Former Ghost guitarist Henrik Palm announces solo album "Idiot Plot"
Swedish multi‑instrumentalist Henrik Palm, who performed with Ghost from 2015 to 2016, announced that his new solo album “Idiot Plot” will be released on 4 December 2024 through Svart Records. Palm, known for his restless approach to post‑punk and genre‑defying compositions, confirmed the release date and label in a statement released earlier this week. Palm joined Ghost during the band’s early touring cycle for the 2015‑2016 period, contributing keyboards and additional instrumentation on the “Meliora” tour. After departing the group, he became a veteran of the Swedish underground scene, playing with acts such as IN SOLITUDE and various post‑punk collectives. In a recent interview he described “Idiot Plot” as “a personal narrative built on dissonant melodies and lyrical irony,” emphasizing that the record reflects his long‑standing fascination with storytelling that subverts conventional song structures. The album will be issued on vinyl, CD and digital formats, with Svart Records handling worldwide distribution and a limited‑edition colored vinyl slated for pre‑order. The 10‑track record features contributions from longtime collaborators, including drummer Johan Lindström and bassist Sofia Eriksson, both of whom have previously worked with Palm on experimental projects. Production was overseen by veteran engineer Anders Björk, whose résumé includes work with The Hives and Refused. According to the press release, the opening track “Neon Cathedral” sets a bleak, synth‑driven tone, while the closing piece “Echoes of the Void” incorporates spoken‑word passages that echo Palm’s earlier work with IN SOLITUDE. The label has also announced a series of intimate listening parties in Stockholm and Berlin, scheduled for January 2025. Palm’s departure from Ghost in 2016 was brief but significant, marking a turning point that allowed him to explore more avant‑garde directions.
