Popestar

2016

Popestar, released on September 16, 2016, is Ghost's most influential EP. Produced by Tom Dalgety —who would later do Prequelle—, it includes one original song, 'Square Hammer', and four covers from such different artists as Eurythmics, Echo & The Bunnymen, Simian Mobile Disco and Imperiet. 'Square Hammer' was Ghost's first single to reach #1 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart in the US and the first by any Swedish band to do so. Popestar was also the first EP to reach #1 on Billboard Top Rock Albums since that chart began in 2006. The EP was released during the Meliora tour with Papa Emeritus III and became the springboard that catapulted Ghost into the North American mainstream.
